A new source of energy?

Recently, we humans have realised the environmental damage we've done in the past century (global warming is an especially worrying problem now *quick Cat, save the world with a couple of your super-cold jokes!*) and are now searching for cleaner forms of power generation like wind and solar (further aided by the rising oil prices). However, one of the most promising of all, and indeed the most ideal so far, is Nuclear Fusion. Its the same process that powers our Sun and the countless other stars in our universe for the millions of years that they have existed. But this has been elusive.

Nuclear fusion has been the holy grail of many physicist for a while now. However, a certain scientist claims to have made it possible by using sound energy. The problem is that the rest of the scientists are skeptical cos they haven't been able to duplicate his results. But the concept is still interesting, and hopefully someone will be able to verify his results soon. Maybe the frequency of sound they are using is wrong? Maybe they need to record down some of Cat's lame jokes? Or maybe a special "Orh...Orh" call by a rare Bird is needed to trigger nuclear fusion...

Anyway read on to find out why the scientists are so skeptical...

It is three years since Professor Rusi Taleyarkhan made the controversial claim that he had achieved one of the holy grails of science - nuclear fusion.
Since then, he has grown tired of the scepticism of his fellow scientists.

"My lab has been audited, my instruments have been audited, my books have been audited, the data speaks for itself.

"The data has to speak for itself - I mean how can I answer that I know absolutely 100% sure that it is what I think it is? I just have to look at the data and the data have been looked at very carefully.

"In the history of publication I probably will not be able to find one that has gone through this level of scrutiny - if you do, let me know," he said.
