Can we predict the future?

This article I read today is somewhat of an extension of the Holographic Universe theory I put up a few days back. Basically, its about this little black box containing a microchip that generates random numbers and yet shows significant deviations from the norm when a major event occurs or (most interestingly) is about to occur. Also, it was found that people could "think" the black box into making a deviation. But why is this possible? Is it just a fluke or a coincidence? Well, if you want to know more, read on...

DEEP in the basement of a dusty university library in Edinburgh lies a small black box, roughly the size of two cigarette packets side by side, that churns out random numbers in an endless stream.

At first glance it is an unremarkable piece of equipment. Encased in metal, it contains at its heart a microchip no more complex than the ones found in modern pocket calculators.

But, according to a growing band of top scientists, this box has quite extraordinary powers. It is, they claim, the 'eye' of a machine that appears capable of peering into the future and predicting major world events.

The machine apparently sensed the September 11 attacks on the World Trade Centre four hours before they happened - but in the fevered mood of conspiracy theories of the time, the claims were swiftly knocked back by sceptics. But last December, it also appeared to forewarn of the Asian tsunami just before the deep sea earthquake that precipitated the epic tragedy.

this is smiles....
saw ur website from linrx blog....
i find this article rather intriguing...
if that stuff there is real, probably they can use it to predict the next world happening event...
I didn't read finish the article... but wondering, what is that box doing there in the library?

Wow! I am honoured by your presence smiles! ;)
Well, I don't think the technology is at the point where we can predict what is going to happen, but it seems to be able to "sense" that sth big/bad is going to happen...
The black box is actually just a small computer Random Event Generator (REG), which basically justs generates a sequence of 1's and 0's. And there are around 65 such REGs in 41 countries.
One is in the university library cos it was "invented" by a professor as part of his experiment in the late 1970s. He was one of the few scientists who was seriously researching paranormal phenomenon. So in a sense I guess the black box is part of an exhibition, like what we have in our science centre.
