The real life Indiana Jones
Yay, its a long weekend. I know some of my friends who are busy finishing up their reports and rushing to hand them in today or on Tuesday. So all the best to you guys and "May the inspiration be with you." Sorry, I know that's a little lame but I just couldn't resist the temptation with all the Star Wars hype going around.
Now Star Wars was one of the most popular trilogies of its time, but another famous trilogy of movies was the Indiana Jones movies. In case that name doesn't ring a bell, you can click here. And, if after visiting the link, you still can't remember the Indiana Jones movies, than I guess it means that either you are not from my time, or you watched very few movies back then.
Anyway, unlike most other movies, Indiana Jones is actually based on a real person. The stories are fictional, but there is really such an archeologist named Dr Jones, only his full name is Dr Vendyl Jones. The movie character played by Harrison Ford had the name Dr Endy Jones, which is basically Vendyl minus the "V" and the "l".
The real Dr Jones, like in the first movie 'Raiders of the Lost Ark', has been searching for the Ark of the Covenant for most of his life. But unlike the movie, he still hasn't found it yet. However, he believes that he will find it soon.
The Ark is the storage place of the Ten Comandments, but it was hidden a long time ago just before the destruction of the First Temple. Hence, the Ark and its contents are definitely an important item in both history and religion, and Dr Jones believes that discovery of the lost ark will “flip the whole world right-side-up.”
According to him, the Ark is located somewhere in Israel, in tunnel network that has an entrance near the ancient Old City of Jerusalem and he has now also been given the blessings of both known and secret Kabbalists to finally uncover the lost ark. Now after decades of searching, Dr Jones believes he will be able to uncover the Ark by Tisha B'Av (Aug. 14), "a day of repeated tragedy in Jewish history. Most notably, it is the anniversary of the destruction of both the First and Second Holy Temples." Why he chose such a date is beyond me.
Dr Jones has also been known to be quite the prophet and had previously predicted in 1959, the famous 6-day Arab-Israeli War that happend in 1967. And he now believes that believes that "the Jewish prophecies regarding the greatly anticipated redemption are occuring in front of our eyes", and the discovery of the Ark would definitely be an important part of it.
As to whether all these are true, we'll just have to wait and see. But one thing's for sure, if Dr Jones does find the Lost Ark of the Covenant, it will definitely have a great impact upon our world. Although I wonder if the impact of its discovery would be good or bad given our current world situation...

An unnamed Kabbalist has granted blessing to famed archeologist Dr. Vendyl Jones to uncover the Holy Ark of the Covenant. Jones plans to excavate the Lost Ark by the Tisha B’Av Fast this summer.
The famed archaeologist, the inspiration for the “Indiana Jones” movie series, has spent most of his life searching for the Ark of the Covenant. The ark was the resting place of the Ten Commandments, given to the Jewish people at Mount Sinai, and was hidden just before the destruction of the First Temple.
The Talmud says the Ark is hidden in a secret passage under the Temple Mount. Jones says that the tunnel actually continues 18 miles southward, and that the Ark was brought through the tunnel to its current resting place in the Judean Desert.
