The "Teens-Only" Ringtone

Just read the Digital Life from the Straits Times today and found an interesting article about a ringtone that supposedly only teens can hear clearly. So I decided to check it out for myself.

It seems that once you get past 20, you lose some of your hearing abilities for high frequency sounds in the 18-20KHz range. Hence, teens should be able to hear this ringtone very clearly, while adults may not even notice it.

From the ones I downloaded and tried, some were clearly audible to me, while some weren't. Well I am no teenager, so I am not exactly the best candidate to decide. However, I think the volume of the recorded file also plays a part as some seem to be more quiet than others (or maybe I just couldn't hear it).

Anyway, for those of you who are teachers, or budding ones, this ringtone is meant to target you! So you'd better be prepared. For the rest, if you are interested you can find the ringtone here.

Oh yes I am... lol... it's in the papers.

Anyway I tested the ringtone on my mom and she truely could not hear it unless I placed my phone next to her ear. So it does work. Haha. Beware...
