Down with the Flu Bug Again
I've got a cold/flu again. Don't really know what's the difference between a cold and the flu with the exception that they are caused by different viruses and flus are usually more serious (i.e. with high fevers and prolonged coughing bouts).
I think I am quite succeptable to colds, but more so when I am stressed, or don't sleep enough. I guess the late nights of World Cup watching probably has taken its toll on my body. And I didn't even watch the 3am matches.
Anyway, I decided to read up a little on ways to prevent the cold/flu, cos it seems that each time I get it, the doctors just prescribe the same medicine (which doesn't seem to help much). So I decided that in this case, prevention is definitely better than the cure.
I came across a website that actually mentions some herbal remedies for the cold/flu. Maybe next time you guys can try it out and see if it works. I'm gonna try this one later.
They forgot to add that it has the added positive side effect of warding of vampires, as well as anyone who wishes to have an extended conversation with you. Haha. Wishing all of you guys the best of health. Those of you still slacking, go find a job! Those of you who have found one, great! And to those of you starting work/at work, work hard, I'll be joining you soon.

Garlic:
Garlic is known to kill influenza virus in test tubes.3 It also stimulates the immune system and wards off complications such as bronchitis.
Garlic contains several helpful compounds, including allicin, one of the plant kingdom's most potent, broad-spectrum antibiotics. This herb's aromatic compounds are readily released from the lungs and respiratory tract, putting garlic's active ingredients right where they can be most effective against cold viruses.
Holistic practitioners often recommend taking several cloves of raw garlic per day during an infection. You can also take aged garlic extract, or consume products such as hot garlic bread or toast.
