Busy busy January

For those of you who do not know yet, my brother just got married on Sunday the 8th of January. And of course, being his brother, his wedding has made my life super busy for the whole of the 1st week of January and most of December.

Why was I so busy? Well, other than my FYP, I had to help with the repainting and remodelling of my brother's room, cleaning of the house, arrangement of the wedding dinner seating, some logistics, delivering of some of the wedding invitations, and loads of other little stuff, all for this...

Marriage Certificate

Also, because my mom wanted the whole house nice and clean for the tea ceremony, we had the responsibility of turning the floor tiles from this:

Dirty Tiles

into this:

Nice Clean Tiles

Unfortunately, this seemingly simple feat couldn't be accomplished with a mop and some detergent. Instead, we had to use toothbrushes, a special acid-like chemical and lots of elbow grease to get the dirt and grime from between the tiles removed. So we were all "transformed" into Cinderalla-like cleaners squatting and scrubbing the tiles and the areas in between with our toothbrushes. Luckily the results were good and my mom is happy. I just hope that I won't have to do this again for a while to come...

The wedding went well overall (I'll put some of the photos up when I am free, probably never the way things are going), with a few minor hiccups, and a major weather problem (it basically rained the whole day over the whole island that Sunday). Now with the euphoria over and life getting back to normal, my bro and new sis-in-law are away on their honeymoon, while I am left wondering how life will be like with another person around the house. It's gonna be weird to start, and I definitely can't walk around the house improperly dressed anymore (not that I do that very often...)

Overall though, I think it'll be a good thing. I don't really know why, but I do like the feeling of having a bigger family. It kinda makes the house less empty feeling. Well, only time will tell. One thing I do know for sure is that I'm gonna get an extra Ang Bao this Chinese New Year. Haha!

Congratulations to your brother and sis-in-law! :)

Wow, you do done a great job with the cleaning...saw some dirt on the floor on the "pre-cleaning" photos especially in the crossing lines. I'm sure it's great for the CNY spring cleaning as well :P

Hey by the way, I saw this:
