A Short Review of my New Handphone

In case any of you do not know yet, I've gotten my new handphone. I chose the Nokia 6230i, primarily cos the price of it fell to below that of the 3230. Haha. And after about 2 weeks of using it, I think I'll give a short review of how it is so far.

Ok, I'll start with the good points. Firstly, I must really say that the Nokia Series 40 OS has really improved since my last Nokia 6800 phone. There are the little, but special changes like auto-keylocking and customisable softkeys, (some of the stuff Siemens and Sony Ericsson had for years, but Nokia just refused to include in their phones till lately) which are thankfully all present in my phone.

Then there is the screen, which although is small, is really clear, bright and sharp. This has made playing games on it a joy so far, although some games should really be better played on a larger screen. The phone's earphones and speaker are also great, making the listening of radio and mp3's on it a joy. The camera is also nice and fast. Quality wise I think its quite good, but I not really a good judge since I didn't have any other camera phone before.

Anyway you guys be the judge. Here are some pics taken with my phone.

Now on to the bugs and bad points. So far, I have found a bug in the software when it comes to assigning the ringtone to the "General" profile. When you assign a ringtone to it, after turning the phone off and on again, the assigned ringtone is reset to the original one (a bug that I think our favourite CatnRice wouldn't have missed if he was in the QC department of Nokia). Another bug with the software is the uploading of games and java applications to the phone, it sometimes says "Operation Failure" when there is no reason to fail, which is why I think I need to update the firmware. Also, the phone's battery life is really short, the maximum I have made it last so far is 3 days, where by the 3rd day's evening it is more or less on the last bar.

Well, other than that, I don't really have much complaints about the phone. So overall I think I will give it a 4 upon 5. Hopefully, the Nokia QC people would have spotted the bugs and made a bugfix so that when I do a firmware update, it'll solve all the bugs above.

Actually they are quite grainy, but I think its cos I reduced the size so it seems better. But I think the cam works really well in indoor lighting.
Unfortunately it does not have a flash, but I dun really mind. ;)
