Artificial Intelligence or Advanced Computer Networks?

I'm still working on the dilemma of which P.E. to take. The interesting and supposedly more useful-in-the-working-world A.I., that is unfortunately also more difficult. Or the relatively boring and supposedly not as useful-in-the-working-world Advanced Computer Networks, that is seemingly much simpler.

Well, I went to check out the A.I. course website and its exam papers and I must say they do seem challenging. It has quite a bit of the dreaded SC109 inside, which is scary. However, this FAQ (you may need an NTU account to view it...) kinda made me feel better. Unforunately, it wasn't enough 100% convinced me to take up A.I. but the final question and answer of the FAQ was in a sense quite "interesting" (and LAME in a way...) and I quote,

Q: One last question...
A: 42 is the answer.

So in the end, after spending a couple of hours looking through the A.I. stuff, I still haven't decided whether to drop it. Well, I have 1 day plus more...

I don't think choosing a subject is going to determine which "path" you take per se. You could learn search algorithmns or play with neural networks but its just one class, its not going to change that much. No really.

I had to give a lot of thought when I was applying to do honors as to in which major I wanted to do it at. I was considering between computer science and medical science and thought it was a life changing decision until one of the professors told me that it really doesn't matter. A lot of the professors aren't researching in the same field they did they're undergrad or they're post grad in. I know of computer science academics who did finance for they're undergrad and later did an MBA.

So I ended up focusing my major on databases which i have you know has a lot more to it then what you think it is. Good luck in your quest.
