Taiwan Trip Pictures

It's been quite a while since I made a post. Been super busy since I got back from my trip on Monday cos I had to rush my research project, full time.

These past few days has made me realise that work kinda has a way of making you feel tired and depressed even after a wonderful trip abroad. I think it was halfway through last Wednesday when I started to wonder whether I had gone to Taiwan in the first place, or was it just a dream.

Next week I'm gonna go back to work at my IA company again, cos the extension has been approved. Kinda regret asking for an extension. Haha. Oh well...

Anyway, on to the pictures. Now I'm not going to make a few posts on what happened over the 5 days I was there cos I think it'll turn out quite boring if you hear it from me. If you want that you can always visit some of my friend's blogs. I'll just put up a few nice (or at least what I consider nice) and interesting pictures of the sights I saw there. You guys can go figure out the rest. ;)

Ok here are some pics from day 1.

From left to right:
1) Slightly rainy morning at Changi
2) Delicious breakfast (cos we were hungry) on our SIA Flight
3) Our room (notice the sleezy lighting on the right...made it seems so...)
4) Ximen Ding (the Orchard road of Taipei)
5) A typical Taipei street

On day 2 we all went for a 1 day tour of Taipei, starting at the large Chiang Kai Shek (CKS) memorial hall, then on to Yue liu and Jiu fen. Then we went on to visit some tourism product selling areas before going to the Miramar shopping centre and then to Shilin night market (resembles Chinatown on CNY eve). Then we ended the day with a hot, but relaxing dip in one of the hot springs in Beitou.

From left to right:
1) CKS memorial hall
2) Panoramic picture of Yue Liu (a nice natural geography area filled with rocks)
3) Panoramic picture of Jiu Fen (a mountainous area)
4) Miramar Ferris wheel (a large ferris wheel at a shopping centre)
5) Panoramic View from the ferris wheel
6) Hot Spring visit (the water there was hot...)

On day 3 we were left to our own devices. So following our plan, we visited a number of places using our MRT pass.

From left to right:
1) Longshan Temple
2) Taipei 101 building (the current world's tallest building)
3) Panoramic view from the 89th storey of the 101 building
4) Wufenpu (the clothes bazaar there. Lots and lots of clothes. Girls could probably spend a whole day there...)
5) Guanghua Market (the Sim Lim Square of Taipei. Not a very nice pic, but its interesting cos the whole place is built under an expressway bridge)

On day 4 we did a little touring of the museums of Taipei as well as the East Coast Park equivalent called DanShui. All this was done again using the Taipei MRT service, which, from what I saw, shows how much more courteous the Taipei people are compared to Singaporeans.

From left to right:
1) Taiwan Museum
2) National Treasures Museum (under renovation, unfortunately... and no pictures inside too...:( )
3) Danshui river and mountain in the background
4) Danshui sunset (minus the sun which was hiding behind the clouds...)
5) All the nice Taipei people who automatically keep right while going up the escalator, no matter how crowded it is.

On the last day, we didn't do much. Made some last minute purchases before rushing to the airport to catch our flight back home.

From left to right:
1) The Boeing 777 we took home.
2) A nice evening sun over somewhere in West Malaysia as we were nearing home sweet home...

Well, that's all the pictures I have time to upload and show you guys. If you want more you can always gimme your email and I'll send the whole 100+ MB of stuff over. It includes some nice short movies of the more animated sights and sounds of Taipei. :)

I'll probably start posting proper again once I get back to work at my IA company, but I'm not sure if I'll still get a nice internet connection. So we'll see when the time comes. You guys have a nice weekend!
