Want a USB drive cum MP3 player cum GhostRadar?
Yesterday I was caught in the rain yet again. It started to rain at my office when I left and rained all the way back to my home. I think I should go buy 4D or Toto today, cos there's a Chinese (or Cantonese) saying that water implies wealth or something like that. Oh well...
I really have to take my hat off to the Japanese for their unbelievable creativity. I think that Japan has to be the country with the most "cute" or weird trinkets being sold in the world. Today's article is about a Japanese company, which, to sell its data storage drives (or USB thumb drives), have come up with a variety of models. They started with the Sushi Drive and Rubber Duck drive that are shaped as they are named of course. Now, they've come up with a USB drive that functions as a MP3 Player and a Ghost Radar.
Whether the ghost radar really works is questionable, but it definitely is a novelty, and a good way to scare some of your friends. In theory the radar works by detecting unusual magnetic waves and also reacts to body heat and perspiration detected by a sensor where users place their thumbs. In response to any "detection" the unit will beep and flash red lights.
Currently, it's only on sale in Japan, and it is going to be sold in the US. But I wonder if we can ever see it in Singapore, with all the constantly updated laws implemented by our beloved gahment...

TOKYO — The Japanese company that launched popular computer data storage units shaped like rubber ducks and sushi started selling a new product Friday — a ghost detector.
SolidAlliance Corp.'s portable GhostRadar beeps and flashes red lights in response to unusual magnetic waves. It also reacts to body heat and perspiration detected by a sensor where users place their thumbs.
The gadgets went on sale Friday in Japan and the first shipments to the United States are on their way, said SolidAlliance Vice President Yuichiro Saito.
