The world's fastest Supercomputer
NH,i evrevryonhe. Good Monhvr, inhg. (The following text has been painstakingly edited) No, I'm not trying to be funny. I accidentally spilled some water on my laptop yesterday and now the keyboard is gving me problems. Hai... dunno what to do. The worst thing is that I can't do proper programming either. Sad... :(
Anyway, today's article is about the fastest supercomputer in the world called Blue Gene. It is made by IBM and is capable of making 135.5 teraflops - 135.5 trillion calculations a second. In contrast, a standard Pentium 4 running at 3.8GHz is capable of only around 3.8 billion calculations per second.
Well, I won't type anymore cos the more I type, the more I have to edit to remove all the uneccessary characters. So here's a quote from the article.

PS: Movie ticket prices are going up again, by $0.50 to $1.00. Sianz. Those cinema operators are really "money face". The last time they raised prices, they blamed it on piracy and people downloading movies. Now that has been reduced, they say that GST and credit card company charges are the reason for the need to raise prices. That's it, I'm going to avoid going to the cinemas as much as possible and rent or buy movies instead.

Blue Gene/L, the fastest supercomputer in the world, has broken its own speed record, reaching 135.5 teraflops - 135.5 trillion calculations a second.
That is double the speed it clocked up to take it to the number one spot in the Top 500 supercomputer league.
The IBM Blue Gene machine that achieved the new mark is being assembled for the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, a US Department of Energy (DOE) lab.
It did 70.72 teraflops last year to beat Japan's NEC Earth Simulator.
The Blue Gene/L is due to be completed for the Livermore labs in 2005.

Cinema tickets are actually pretty well priced in Singapore. What are they? $8.50 to $9.50?? In the States, I pay USD$10 per ticket and in Australia, I pay AUD$10 per ticket.

If u've the time tis weekend, probably should go change ur keyboard... but i wonder how long it would take to get one replaced... ;)
>>bunkmate: True, I guess the prices are lower, but the standard of living and costs there are different too...
>>smiles: Its not my laptop, its my company's laptop. So I wun go and fix it myself. But I really hope it can get well by itself, or I may have to pay... :(
well, ur bunkmate may be right abt the price of movies in aust and states. to be exact, it's 11.30 for aust, students get a student rate.
what we are saying is the price of tix has increased, so there's really no need to compare with other countries. It's more expensive relative to the price it used to be, in the past, in singapore. our price is not pegged according to other countries prices, in this case.
well, if u guys want, a cheaper alternative will be in JB,City Square is the nearest. It's really cheap, but is it worth the traveling? *awooooooo*
hehe...
